This is the last painting I did in 2008. I was looking forward to new beginnings, thus the happy little egg!

Fireweed Gallery While I was working on this piece I had a visit from Jill Shepherd, her daughter, her 2 granddaughters, and her great granddaughter. Four generations! Talk about new beginnings! Five fantastic Alaskan women. Here they are at Charlie's Club 25. Thanks, Jill for sending along this picture!

Wow, I'm not even sure what to say...this is so exquisite. It's truly perfect, I think. It's seems very serious to me. I love it!!
This is such a gem! I've been looking and looking at this one and the teacup... Just lovely. So glad to have found your site and blog.
Did you first paint the egg (literally paint it, physically), then do a painting of it? Very cool.
Thanks to everyone for your encouragement! Jala, the decorated egg was in my mom's collection of little curiosities. It was strange, though, to paint the painting egg as if it were a real egg that I was decorating. I admire craftspeople who do these things, they make it look simple but it isn't!
